Personal Trainer Motivations

The specific reasons why people want to hire personal trainers are as diverse as people looking for coaches. But deeply rooted motivations are quite simple. As a coach, motivator and coach, we need to look deeper into why a person sees the coach and how we react to each of these people.

1. Despair. This person has tried everything in the book for weight loss (ie bizarre diets, crazy drills), and now they desperately want to see sustained results. We should treat this person with empathy and positive motivation through micro-achievements. These people tend to focus on serious changes and huge results. We must have them in a positive group session, which will be consistent and will keep them accountable if they stop early or if they do not see immediate results and are not discouraged.

2. Competition. These people are competitive and in need of difficulties, or they will not be happy. Putting them with a small group that has indicators and measurable achievements is the way.

3. Lack of knowledge. This person has no previous experience of exercises or any idea of how to start an exercise program. Although this may seem easy to deal with, we need to do a lot of training about the body and how exercises affect the body. We must also motivate these people with measurable goals to show progress and achievements. Regularly structured workouts, which they perform with successive personal trainings for training and promotion, will be necessary.

4. Accountability. If they do not have a meeting or a lesson, they simply will not come to the gym. These people should have an excuse to come to the gym and whether this appointment, class or financial motivation (pre-paid session, which they lose or will be charged for a session without a show) should have an effect if they do not come. There must be consequences for missed or missed workouts, because that's what keeps them.
